Great Expectations

Oregon Coast

We have enjoyed being on a break from Spanish yet we can't help but have great expectations and anticipation at what lies ahead. We are packing our bags again, even though it it seems as if we just unpacked. But it is time to begin our return trip to Texas. We have enjoyed spending time in Oregon with my (Heather's) parents in Eugene. The highlights were a trip to the beach with my sisters families and my parents, encouraging my Mom in recovery from a knee replacement surgery, a fathers day BBQ with all of my siblings and cousin sleepovers for the girls at Grammies. Heather's parents also own and manage a elderly care home attached to their house and the girls enjoyed serving and eating breakfast at "Shalem Cottage" when visiting grammie.

It has also been a blessing to spend weekends in Salem visiting my sisters and family, Josh's brother's family and being at our home church Salem Evangelical. Last week Hattie enjoyed attending VBS with her cousins and Grace attended day camp at Canyonview for the first time.

Josh and I had the opportunity to attend the Oregon Home school Convention in Portland and purchased all our homeschooling curriculum for the next 3 years. The most challenging and encouraging part of that time was the reminder to us from Voddie Bauchum about the importance of family discipleship. The scripture passage from Deuteronomy 6:4-13 is one of the scripture passages we studied and we were given 7 ways that we can apply this verse to our lives. I thought I would share them with you and you can study it on your own.

Deuteronomy 6:4-13
1. Verse 4 - Worship God without rivals.
2. Verse 5 - Love without Compromise.
3. Verse 6 - Learn to think Biblically
4. Verse 7 a - Teach the word at home.- Our love for Christ compels us to preach the gospel to our kids, pray them without ceasing and seek their salvation by any and all means.
5. Verse 7b- Live the word at home.
6. Verse 8-9 - Mark your home as God's territory.
7. Verse 12-13 Don't forget God.

Schedule:
We will be leaving Salem on July 6th and flying to Houston, TX where we will pick up our car and drive to Atlanta, GA for two weeks of field preparation with BMW, our missions organization. We also plan to visit Robbinsville, NC and TMM where we were last year training for missions. We will spend a week with our This Hope friends in Atlanta and then drive to Edinburg in time to start school the first week of August. We are busy making arrangements and plans to leave for Ecuador Lord willing in the 2nd or 3rd week of January.

We Praise God For:
*Travel safety as we have been in the car a lot this last 6 weeks.
*Provision of a car to use from our church while here in Oregon.
*Opportunities to be together with family as well as with many friends during our time in Oregon.

Please Pray For:
*Continued safe travels to Atlanta in the next week and back to Edinburg in August.
*Clear minds at the field prep in Atlanta as we learn about and prepare for the next leg of our journey to Ecuador.
*Endurance in heart and mind as we finish language school and begin packing in the next 5 months to leave for Ecuador.

We cannot begin to understand or comprehend the plans the Lord has for our future but we know and have seen HIS hand at work in our lives until now and HIS provision is amazing and we trust HIM.
Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.
Revelation 4:11
for His glory,
The Dunn's
