Lord Teach Us To Pray!

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in Princes. Praise God! He is Risen and we are redeemed through the cross!

I have just finished a 40 day study of Christ in small book called The Incomparable Christ. This study of who Christ is and His journey to the cross has challenged me in many areas as I continually desire to humble myself to become more like Christ. One area that I was very challenged in was prayer! When we came to language school we had no idea all the other blessings beyond Spanish that Christ would give us while at this little Bible school in Texas. It is powerfully humbling and amazing to see students here that have left their country to come and learn the word of God! The challenges that these students face to receive a solid biblical education are so far beyond what we in America go through to get the similar education from Gods word.
Before Easter we had a day of prayer here on campus. This day is fully focused on prayer and actually praying! There are no classes on this day and none of the staff work, yet everyone is present and praying starting at 8:00 am for the whole day. This prayer time was amazing as we saw the whole campus shut down to pray! It was awesome to see the Bible students, many of whom are between 18-28 years old, desiring to become like Christ and praying for others and fully trusting in the power of prayer. There are many things in the lives of these students that will only be accomplished through prayer. Of course I believe the same applies to our lives yet do we really believe in the power of prayer? In my recent study of the life of Christ I read a section on the prayer life of Christ. I believe that if we want to know how to pray we must pray as Jesus did! Take a look at Christs prayer life-

1. He prayed to His Father- Psalm 27:4

2. He always found time to pray- As you read through the Gospels, you see that key moments of His life were marked by prayer.

3. He prayed often-Luke 5:15

4. Jesus prayed for the things that He knew would please and honor His Father and advance God's Kingdom-If anyone could justify skipping or rushing through times of prayer, it would seem Jesus could have. But in the busiest, most pressured seasons of His life, He prayed more, not less.

5. Jesus believed God heard Him when He prayed-John 12:27

6. Jesus prayed much during the days of His passion-1 John 5:14-15

7. Jesus prayed earnest, passionate prayers-Luke 22

8. Even when He was abandoned by His Father, and God refused to answer, He still prayed-Hebrews 5:7

9. Jesus is still praying-Psalm 22:1-2 Messianic Psalm the same words Jesus prayed from the cross.

10. We desire a greater prayer life! We ask for your prayers as we seek these things in our walk and we pray for you as you seek Christ in your life also! -Hebrew 7:25- Romans 8:34
Real prayer is the total surrender to a full correspondence with mind will and character of God.
