In the last week of our lives we have been in a tornado of blessing! We put the date of June 15th on our calender as D-Day. The final day to make decisions regarding going to TMM in NC or staying in Salem another year. Many things had to fall into place for our move to be possible. I will try to recount the greatness of the Lord in our lives in mere words but they will not do justice to the realities of what God can do.
It all started a week ago when Josh began shopping for a computer as we had to return mine to Corban since I no longer work there. Josh found a computer within a day. It was not only the perfect machine but was half off the price as it was the floor model at Fred Meyers and the only one available to buy. Praise the Lord #1.
Secondly we decided to pursue finding a trailer for our trip out east and realized we needed a trailer hitch and hook-up also. Josh contacted the local pick-a-part and located the one hitch in Salem that would work with our Isuzu Rodeo and it was half the price of a new one. They removed it for no extra charge and Josh installed it the next day with no problems. Praise the Lord #2.
We had already been looking for a trailer and found one, but it was in White Salmon, WA 2 and1/2 hrs away. Thankfully we were able to take a trip up there and find out the trailer was exactly what we needed and the price was better then we thought. We had help from a couple of friends that gave us some good advice on what to look for. We made it safely home with the trailer on the new hitch that Josh had secured. Praise the Lord #3.
Josh's truck was still on the list of "need to sell." We had already listed the truck on and on the way out of town to get the trailer we got a call from a person wanting to see the truck. Josh had to fix a freeze plug that had been leaking and it happened to be the only plug out of six on the engine block that he could get access to without pulling the engine out. Which could have been devistatingly costly. $0.99 and a half hour later Josh had a truck that didn't leak. Josh showed the truck on Tuesday June 16th at 12:00 and sold it on the spot for only $200.00 less then he was asking, but $300 more than he would have taken for it. Praise the Lord #4.
The last thing that we had prayed to take place by the 15th was something with our house. On Friday night June 12th after much prayer, and having our house listed to sell for 3 months, we decided to list our house on Craigslist for rent. That same evening we had a person interested in seeing it the next day. We showed the house Sunday June 14th and finalized the rental agreement and contract for a year lease Tuesday evening June 16th. We got more than our monthly payment by $100. Praise the Lord #5.
We know, and continue to believe, that God has a perfect plan and that He works in His perfect time. It may not always be the way we see it working in our finite human understanding and we should be oh so thankful that God works beyond our imagination. The joy of knowing we are walking hand in hand with the Lord is unexplainable. Josh and I would like to go shout it from our roof-top but we sold our ladder in our garage sale, so we will have to settle for writing about it here and telling others of God's amazing work as we see them. (these are just a few of the provisions... there are too many to write about here.) Our God is huge! How big is your God? HD

ReplyDeleteDon't know if you read Oswald Chambers today, but it is a perfect one for your situation! In part: "If you debate for a second when God has spoken, it is all up. Never begin to say--'Well, I wonder if He did speak?' Be reckless immediately, fling it all out on Him. You do not know when His voice will come, but whenever the realization of God comes in the faintest way imaginable, recklessly abandon. It is only by abandon that you recognize Him. You will only realize His voice more clearly by recklessness." I'm sure some people might have thought you were being reckless in decisions you were making, but look how we have all seen God work! What a blessing!!! We love you.

Praise the Lord for the Dunn family! :) Isn't He an awesome God we serve? Heather, I love the blog. You are so encouraging and I loved the scripture you posted about wives and mothers. Know, you and your family will be in my payers these next couple of months as you seek finanical blessings and all the loose ends to futher your missionary vision.

PS - that phrase, no retreat, no reserve, no regret is from William Borden, a missionary from the early 1900s. I love that "motto" and live by it as well. Pastor Randy did us well by sharing it.
