Waiting for Spring!

The Alaskan blood in Josh has come out this year in North Carolina. He is one of the only people here that couldn't be happier with all the snow days! If you have never hooked up a rope and towed a snowboarder behind a 4-wheeler in the snow it is a lot of fun. We waited for the right conditions and quickly took the advantage of snowboarding here at TMM. Having missed out on hitting the slopes for the past few years and not looking to be on the mountain again anytime soon pulling each other behind the 4-wheeler proved to be a great second!

Keeping the Car Alive on the Muddy Roads

Muddy roads give cause for extreme measures even when it comes to Laundry-

Suprisingly all except the 4-wheeler made it home still clean
Other than playing in the snow it has had positive and negative affects on our vehicles. When it snows the roads are great for a seasoned Alaskan but for those from Florida it can be quite challenging. Of course the snow makes the mud disappear for a time and makes everything seem clean. Then the snow disappears and the roads are a muddy mucky mess. The joy of freeze and defrost on a continual basis since November has challenged our little Isuzu resulting in it staying parked at the Cabin as much as possible. It turns into a fun family affair as we all climb onto the 4-wheeler to get around the mountain on a regular basis. Thankfully coming from some cold weather and enjoying snow we have the gear to stay warm in rain,snow and on freezing nights riding on the 4-wheeler!

Josh just finished his 3 months mechanics course and his brain is still recovering from all the information. He just started welding and community development/station development. So far he has enjoyed welding the most of many of the things learned here so far.

The girls and I have learned how to use a wringer washer and we had fun working together to wash our clothes. Grace and Hattie are learning to be quite the little helpers guiding the clothes through the wringer. They just have to pay close attention so they don't get their fingers sucked through:) We also learned in Ladies class about safety on the field, setting up a mission station and home, and some of the most challenging lessons yet regarding the treatment of the African women. I have to continually thank the Lord for the life he has given me and I desire to share kindness, and the love of Christ with many African women who daily are challenged with trials beyond my imagination.
As a family we began Swahili classes in the beginning of February. It has been good to begin learning the language and it is amazing how quickly we are all catching on. Tunajifunza kiswahili. Tunampenda Mungu! We just finished the small Library we set up for our church Grace Fellowship and look forward to starting work on Vacation Bible School as I am Co-directing it for the Church this year.

Right now we are actively looking at Kenya as a possibility to serve full-time yet we are continuing to be open as we seek clear direction of where the Lord wants us. Our greatest desire is to be in the Lord's will serving Him and producing fruit for His glory wherever he has us.
Pray for our health as we have all had small colds recently.
Pray for continued protection on our vehicle as we drive around the mountain.
Pray for Hattie as she continues to miss her cousin Bo and many of her friends.
Pray for clear direction regarding specific ministry detail and location.
Pray for Josh and I as we continue to desire a humble servants heart with all those we come in contact with.
