for His glory: Summer

Summer weather starts here in April but the break for us being that we homeschool is the month of July. This corresponds well with the school schedules here as the public schools get out the first week of July and go back around the second week of August. This is a fairly slow ministry month here as so many go on vacation and are gone most of the month. To kick off the summer we took our good friends Humberto and Flor along with their two kids to a water park that is about 2 hours away. It was a great day as we enjoyed seeing this family enjoy many firsts in their lives. The water slides being one of them! After the park we made one of our quarterly stops at Costco and of course Starbucks which were both firsts for this family also. It was really fun to spoil this family a little bit as they work very hard here in Zacatecas for the gospel. Humberto is a pastor of a small church as well as a full-time Taxi driver. They don't get much opportunity to relax as a family as daily life is hard. We have enjoyed spending much time with them and encouraging each other as we serve the Lord. Josh is currently teaching an evangelism course at Humbertos Church on Sundays and some evangelism during the week with Humberto when he has time. Heather spends time with Flor learning Mexican cooking as well as encouraging each other in the word. Heather is leading a Women's Bible study Thursday nights covering the book "Lies Women Believe" with Flor and some other ladies. We have been enjoying a lot of involvement in 3 different churches here that are pastored by Mexican Nationals. There is a lot of needed support for these pastors and their families as some of them are young and all of them work full-time jobs separate from Pastoring. The effect these men and families can have within their culture is far-reaching and more then we can do as American Missionaries. We are thankful the Lord has opened doors for us to assist these churches in teaching, preaching and administrating in different ways.
